Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival 2021

2021 marks two anniversaries – 20 years of Bazooka Arts, and 15 years of the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival (SMHAF). We have been involved in SMHAF since it began in 2006 and we’re excited to continue our involvement this year from May 3rd –   23rd focusing on the theme of ‘Normality’.

Online Exhibition

Our online exhibition has been developed from creative responses to aspects of nature and everyday life which have been vital in maintaining a sense of normality in uncertain times. Many have found everyday things that we previously took for granted are the things that we miss and now value most: travelling, visiting friends, hugs.

Work has been created by participants of our therapeutic arts programs to support recovery from mental ill health. Participants created their artwork at home with online support from therapeutic arts practictioners. We are running a series of workshops on Zoom which are focusing on celebrating aspects of nature and everyday life which bring happiness. These are suitable for adults, including absolute beginners. Bring paper pencil, pens, or paints, and since you’ll be at home bring your own cuppa.
