Creative Challenge 2021 – Colours of Summer

Now that summer is here and the kids are off school for seven weeks, Bazooka Arts participants and artists are having a break for the summer before picking up again in the Autumn. But just because we’re not delivering all of our courses, we’re still encouraging everyone to keep up their creative pursuits and involve their families in the process.

In 2020 during Summer, we ran a colour of the rainbow photography challenge, encouraging people to take in their surroundings and take photographs illustrating the colours of the rainbow throughout the season. We know that our participants enjoyed the challenge, so this year we’re running another, this time focussing on the colours that participants have told us represent Summer to them.

Each week we will be focussing on a different Summer colour as follows:

  • Turquoise – week beginning 5th July
  • Violet – week beginning 12th July
  • Yellow – week beginning 19th July
  • Pink – week beginning 26th July
  • Green – week beginning 2nd August
  • Orange – week beginning 9th August

It doesn’t have to be photographs; it can be any creative activity that you fancy, and we’ll have suggestions each week to help you out. Whatever you produce, we’d love you to share what you create with us on social media using the hashtags #BazookaArts and #BazookaSummer

To get the creative juices flowing here is a poem written by Bazooka participant Karen reflecting on our week at Summerlee Heritage Museum celebrating our Create and Connect Project funded by The National Lottery Community Fund.

The sun shone down
It’s rays warm and bright
Colours so vibrant and bold
Trees, grass plants so green
The sky blue as blue can be
Happy chatter and laughter
From friends together again
With joint aim to create and connect.
