The Art of Being Me

A series of events to connect with people who have benefited from taking part in therapeutic arts projects

As part of the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival 2017, we’re opening our doors for  in October to showcase the work and achievements of our participants.

It’s opportunity for them to share how they feel about taking part in workshops, and for us to give people a taster of what it’s like to join in.

All events are free. We look forward to welcoming you soon!


Tuesday 10th October 1pm – 3pm
THE VILLAGE
A funny, poignant new play by Theatre Tonic about life in a small village populated by characters with intriguing secrets. Embark on a rollercoaster ride of emotions as villagers try to get along, secrets are revealed and lives are reclaimed.
Followed by a post-show discussion with Theatre Tonic on their personal experiences of therapeutic theatre with Bazooka Arts.

EXHIBITION
A vibrant mixed media exhibition of work created in three different therapeutic projects.

  • Club Tropicana –  a series of colourful prints based on the theme of dream holidays in tropical places
  • What Makes My Heart Sing – beautiful images created from felt
  • A Place to Be – rich collages which draw inspiration from places where the artists feel happy, safe and at home

THERAPEUTIC ARTS WORKSHOP

A fun and playful open workshop using stories and large piece of fabric to create temporary physical structures inspired by places that make us feel good.

Wednesday 25th October 1.30–3pm
DRAMA WORKSHOP WITH THEATRE TONIC

Join in the regular weekly workshop of drama skills with the friendly bunch at Theatre Tonic .

REFERRERS ARTS WORKSHOP

If you are a professional working in Health or Social Care and would like to find out about how your clients may benefit from taking part in the therapeutic arts, come along for a chat or to join in this arts practical session.  We will have information about two new projects launching in Autumn 2017.

DRAMA WORKSHOP WITH ALL STARS COMMUNITY THEATRE

Join in the regular weekly workshop of fun drama games.

ART WORKSHOP

A practical drop-in arts workshop at our town centre workshop space.
